Global Animal Welfare Initiative (GAWI)

Welcome to the Global Animal Welfare Initiative

The Global Animal Welfare Initiate (GAWI) was started as a Fairbane initiative in 2009 during the Global Financial Crisis when countless pets were left abandonded and unattended globally. This heartbreaking circumstance was completely missed as the world focused its attention on so many other things at the time.

We believe that every creature on this planet deserves to live with dignity, respect, and protection. Our mission is to create a world where animals, both wild and domestic, are protected from cruelty, exploitation, and suffering. We advocate for better living conditions, conservation efforts, and the enforcement of animal rights globally.

Our Mission

The Global Animal Welfare Initiative (GAWI) aims to:

  • Protect: Advocate for stronger policies and laws to protect animals from abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
  • Preserve: Work on global conservation efforts to ensure endangered species thrive and ecosystems are maintained.
  • Promote: Raise awareness and educate the public about the rights of animals, including the need for ethical treatment, environmental sustainability, and humane practices in farming, wildlife management, and pet care.

Together, we can create a safer, kinder world for all living beings.

What We Do

1. Advocacy & Policy Change

We partner with governments, international organizations, and local communities to push for stronger animal welfare laws. We aim to influence public policy, supporting legislation that prevents cruelty, exploitation, and destruction of habitats. From banning unethical practices in factory farming to implementing stronger wildlife protections, our advocacy efforts are focused on securing lasting change.

2. Education & Awareness

Raising awareness is crucial. Through campaigns, public speaking engagements, workshops, and digital media, GAWI informs individuals about the importance of animal welfare. We work to change minds, shift cultural attitudes, and inspire compassionate behavior towards animals.

3. Conservation Efforts

Many species are threatened by habitat loss, climate change, and poaching. Our conservation initiatives focus on protecting wildlife and their natural habitats. By working with local organizations and global networks, we are involved in protecting endangered species and promoting sustainable practices in wildlife tourism and trade.

4. Rescue & Rehabilitation

We are actively involved in animal rescue and rehabilitation efforts, particularly for those affected by natural disasters, industrial accidents, or abuse. Our network of partners works to provide immediate assistance and long-term care for animals in need.

How You Can Help

1. Get Involved Locally

Join one of our local chapters, participate in volunteer programs, or host awareness events in your community. Every action, no matter how small, makes a difference.

2. Spread the Word

Help us raise awareness by sharing our content on social media, starting conversations about animal welfare, and educating others about the importance of compassion toward animals. The more people know, the more we can collectively push for change.

3. Take Action

Support ethical brands and businesses that treat animals with respect. Sign petitions for better animal welfare laws, and advocate for sustainable, humane practices in industries like fashion, food, and entertainment.
